Parador El Saler, Valencia, Spain
April 18-21 2013
Prize Fund : € 1.5 million
Course : 7052 yards par 72
This is my first visit to The El Saler course which last played host to the Open de Espana in 2001, but I have heard a lot about it by reputation.
Set on the coast about 30 minutes drive from Valencia it has a very links feel especially when the wind blows in from the sea.
While at just over 7,000 it is not a bombers layout it is still very tricky.Any drive off the fairway stands a good chance of a lost ball in the bushes or scrubland.
And the greens, while pretty receptive during practice, are expected to firm up as the week goes on , and with many subtle slopes they will place a premium on approach play.
But I have come here fresh from another two week break in which time I completed my move into a new home in Alderley Edge.
And my golf this year has been pretty consistent, all I need to do now is start getting into contention more often.
